Interesting article, and it did help me a lot. I have been on my own exercise and diet program for a year now, having lost 72 lbs. I include a weight-training program (dumbbells and body-weight exercises), plus I run 8.4 kms per day...with the goal of running 10 km daily. I would dearly love to be able to see my abs again (I'm 52 years old). My weight-loss tapered off after about 10 months, so I started measuring my body fat using calipers, and I'm waiting for a set of body-fat scales to arrive. From what I can tell, I have lost approximately 1.5% to 2.5% body fat per month since starting this program (I estimated my body fat to be approximately 34.4% on July 1st, 2009 - based on height, weight, and waist measurements that I took on day-1) and am now down to just over 8% body fat. However, I still do not see my abs, but I can certainly feel them right under my skin. My guess is that I will have to lose another 3% body fat before I will be able to actually see a six-pack, and your tables are certainly a good guideline.

My ultimate goal is not really "body-building" though...I just want to look and feel great...for a change. Once I have attained my body-fat goals I will start to eat more with the intention of adding body mass, to see if I can actually grow these muscles I'm exercising :-), while maintaining a low body fat percentage.

Thanks again.
